The rooms

The 6 large rooms of Casale l’Antico Carro, a beautiful bed and breakfast in Tuscany, have been renovated in classic Tuscan style and well refined with floors in terracotta tiles, ceilings with exposed wooden beams and wrought-iron double beds. The classic style clearly visible in every room of this B&B near Cortona is harmoniously combined with all modern conveniences to guarantee you a comfortable and relaxing stay in Tuscany.

All the rooms are thus equipped with air conditioning, satellite TV, telephone, safe and free wi-fi internet connection. Thanks to the spaciousness of the rooms, some of the double beds can be turned into two single beds, according to availability and the different needs of our guests. In some of the rooms, it is also possible to add an extra bed or a baby cradle upon request.

In the main house of this typical bed & breakfast of Cortona there is a lovely common lounge with fireplace and sofas linked to the second floor by a traditional staircase with wrought-iron handrails and some exposed stones on the walls. Our rooms in Tuscany are all named after the different pieces constituting the old farm cart of the family, which has been placed next to the main entrance of the parking, and according to how those rooms were used in the past. Three double rooms with en-suite bathroom and a suite are located on the first and on the second floor of the main house:

Martinicca

a beautiful double bedroom on the first floor located in front of the main entrance of the house, which has been kept unchanged in its size and in the original floor and is characterized by a wall recess where there was probably an old toilet/dressing table in the past. This bedroom with double bed and blue furniture has an en-suite bathroom with shower and is characterized by a little detail of exposed stone on a wall;

an enchanting double suite on the first floor with original exposed wooden beams, a bathroom with shower with whirlpool bathtub and chromotherapy and a breathtaking view onto Cortona from a big arched window in the bedroom; some original stones, which date back to the first house extension, have been kept unchanged and exposed on the wall next to the bed;

a lovely double bedroom on the second floor, which was once used as a garret room or as a stock room to store grapes for the production of vinsanto and to preserve seasonal vegetables; the bedroom is characterized by a high ceiling with exposed wooden beams, a raised en-suite bathroom located over the entrance staircase and an evocative view onto the countryside up to Mount Amiata on one side and onto Cortona on the other side;

a lovely double bedroom on the second floor with en-suite bathroom with shower, characterized by an original stone of the entrance door architrave, a big wrought-iron four-poster bed, exposed wooden beams on the ceilings and a nice view onto the Tuscan countryside.

In the outbuilding of our bed & breakfast in Cortona, you will find two double bedrooms, one on the ground floor and the other on the first floor, which is accessible through a beautiful staircase in pietra serena, a typical grey stone from Tuscany:

Ruota

during the 1950s this room was occupied by cattle, as evidenced by a manger called "greppia" by farmers that has been found there; today it is a beautiful double bedroom on the ground floor with en-suite bathroom with travertine shower and is accessible to motor-impaired people;

Stufa

a wonderful room on the first floor embellished by original exposed wooden beams on the ceiling, which was used at the beginning of the 20th century as a drying kiln for the tobacco produced in the area. Turned "to the four winds" as the common saying goes, this bedroom has four windows placed on the four sides of the building, and offers thus a stunning view onto Cortona and the surrounding areas.
